Excellent character studies in this thriller. I need to re-read to catch all the nuances.
Really taps into the nuances of the human experience/experiment - friendship, grief, intimate relationships, work, love - to name a few.
This novel made me feel like I was wrapped in a warm snuggly blanket. I loved these characters.

Gave me a new perspective on mother - daughter relationships, especially my relationship with my mother. But it's also gave a very nuanced look from the daughter perspective, which was a reminder to stay open with my daughter about my life and how my journey has shaped who I am. I would hate for me to leave this Earth and my daughter or my sons, to think of me as a stranger.
Now, this is what a thriller should be, nerve-wracking, anxiety-inducing, and leave one in utter suspense.
I must read more from this author.
“I felt heavy my whole life.
I always thought that death would be the heaviest thing of all, but it wasn't, it really wasn't. Life was like being dragged through concrete in circles, wet and setting concrete that dried with each rotation of my unwilling body. As a child, I was light. It didn't matter too much; I slid through it, and maybe it even felt like a game, like I was playing in mud, like nothing about the slipperiness would ever change, not really. But then I got bigger and it started drying on me and eventually, I turned into an uneven block, chipping and sparking on the hard ground, tearing off into painful chunks.” (Emezi)

It was great following, Dresden. I didn't give 4 stars, due to me being able to predict, key happenings. However, I enjoyed the story lines. Looking forward to continuing the series.
I would definitely recommend listening to the audiobook while reading. It heightens the story.

My teenager daughter enjoyed listening to it with me.
Good message for teens.
Great story!!
I am starting to realize I am sucker for time travel stories, I literally lose myself in these storylines. No exceptions here, very immersive story.
Excellent coming of age story, that touches heavily on internal and external womanhood - what that means and how to fully grow in to it.
On another note, I really loved the topic surrounding women using their outside voice. This stuck with me.
Wow!!!
As a newbie to adult fantasy, well fantasy anything. This story blew my mind. I am so excited for the next book in the series, but before it comes, a re-read is definitely in order.
