3, 5 ⭐ kinda liked this, but WHY does Sager's main characters always come across as stupid and lacking of common sense??
So happy I chose this as my first read of the year. Read it in one sitting and loved every page
Ok, ok... the beginning was super boring. Definitely a slow burn type of thriller.
The premise was interesting and I was invested in Alice's story. What happened? Why doesn't she talk? But instead of getting to know Alice, I had to read about Theo and his problems and his relationship, and I just couldn't have cared less.
As for the hyped ‘big twist', well... I guessed it. Theo's personal life/ relationship was constantly shoved down my throat without any apparent reason, so it became pretty obvious, right from the beginning, that Theo was somehow connected to whatever happened to Alice.
Now, this isn't the worst psychological thriller I've read and I understand why so many people love this. I'm just really annoyed
