I was fortunate enough to receive and read an ARC. I also pre-ordered this title, securing a signed first edition copy and borrowed the audiobook from my local library via the Libby app.
Incredible read, I fell in love with the setting, as it hit close to home, being from a town similar politically to Twist Creek. Miles is exceptional, for standing what up for what he believes in, given everything that happens to him, and his loved ones. When it would’ve been easier to submit and placate.
The audiobook was perfection. Immersive storytelling, and the accent the narrator used was excellent, as well as their tone used to convey plot points/conversations.
I can’t wait to see what AJW writes nexts
Loved this title, desperately wish I saved it for the fall but that just means I have to re-visit it soon!
As an avid enjoyer of mythology, I was so pleased to see this title as a new release at my library. I tandem read with the audiobook, which added so much to my reading experience. Such an amazing, fresh take on a classic myth, I was hooked on Manisha’s story from page one. At this time, there is a second book in works which I will absolutely be reading when it’s published.
This was a solid book! Handmaids tale meets classic fairy tale reimagined. Super easy to read. I listened to the audiobook read by Bahni Turpin, one of my favorite narrators & read the ebook. I read this for the 2024 Trans Rights Readathon
This book was incredible, I really enjoyed this. Gossip girl meets get out, Faridah creates a story I got lost in. I read this for 2024 Trans Rights Readathon & I’m so glad I did. It definitely lived up to the hype.
I read this for the 2024 Trans Rights Readathon & absolutely loved it. Jam’s story resonated with me. Akwaeke Emezi is a master with words, I love their prose.
Overall, a decent start to the GN, a lot of open ended-ness in the first vol, but i'm looking forward to vol. 2 &3! The art is so stunning!!
