3.5 stars. quick & pretty fun, probably would have benefitted from being a lil longer. I liked Meg & Adam, Meg's coworker was insufferable.
3.5 stars. This book definitely gripped me, but I don't think it being written in verse benefited it. I wish I just got more from the story and especially from the ending.
This was so gripping! I definitely wouldn't go into it thinking of it as a thriller or mystery because that's not what it was at all. Dark & psychological & great!

- there was really no reason for Cat to be so connected to Merry & want to go there - it would have made more sense plot-wise if this was her hometown or something?
- the only reason Noah disliked Cat was because she's pretty & on TV?? all his rants were misogynistic, annoying, & over the top
- Noah literally lays on top of Cat and clamps a hand over her mouth to keep her from leaving/talking
- way too fuckn long & I'm not even finishing it
- not Christmas-y at all; I'm sure this would have changed if I continued but based on the title & synopsis I expected this to be mostly surrounding Christmastime and much more holiday-esque
- no lead up to Cat & Noah getting together - they hated each other & then they were kissing
on to the horrible sex scenes
- constantly describing Cat's nipples as “pebbled”
- constantly referring to her vagina as a “sheath”
- her orgasming multiple times in succession just from penetration after like ...36 seconds
- “Milk it for me.”
- “She fisted a hand around the root...”; “...he fisted his erection...“
- “Wanted the feeling of being impaled...“
just a big no to this book. v confused at all the rave reviews.
this was well-written and really engaging, but ended up being pretty predictable. Audrey was super unlikeable but she was meant to be and I honestly liked that aspect of it! I thought it definitely could have ended a little better and on a creepier note. overall, I enjoyed it but it wasn't my fave.
this was pretty cute & had some nice summer vibes but was really too short to care about anything/one

But this was NOT done well.The writing is cheesy & angsty and overly academic - I've never met two teenagers who speak like Lochan & Maya do. I felt like I was constantly being manipulated into thinking this relationship was okay. Lochan is obsessive and jealous and often violent. Maya read incredibly young to me, which just made the whole thing feel even weirder. Far too long with so much focus on mundane things - full pages describing waking up, making breakfast for their siblings, taking their siblings to school, being at school themselves, thinking about each other, picking up their siblings from school... I'm bored just writing this.I'm honestly having trouble expressing my thoughts because this was kind of a mess and there's so much I didn't like about it.
