This book is a big shift from the first 4 in the series (although God Emperor had a shift of its own). It was like relearning the universe as so much has changed from the days of Muad'Dib.
I have to say Miles Teg is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. It was a joy to see him in action. I don't think this book would have been as good without him. I would give 5 stars just for Teg.
I wasn't sure about this book at first. It seemed pretty typical of the genre like it was going to be cookie cutter. However, I really enjoyed how it took its own turn in the genre. It was BRUTAL, just violence for the sake of it at some points. It really didn't shy away from it. The character is both likable and dislikable as he becomes more like his enemy. It's easy to admire his resolve and dedication.
Not my favorite in the series so far. If anything, it's just feels like a bridge to the next book making this one kinda eh on its own.
Of course, I still love the series and will dive right into the next book.
