3 A really good family mystery. The last half of the book was the best 3.5 starts because the begging was kind of boring but then it got really good
I need not a second, not a minute, not an hour, not a day, I need MONTHS to process this I'm still laughing/crying AHHHHH give this series a chance pls
Excuse me, sir? I need to sign up for chess lessons NOW. The way this had me so invested in chess that I was biting my nails OFF for Mallory and Nolan. Nolan just cared so much for Mallory that he had me on my KNESS. I don't want I NEED a tall, smart brunette who's good at chess in my life. What? is not that hard. Don't think because this is Ali Hazelwood's first young adult romance novel is going to be less than her other books. NOT AT ALL. This is just as good (I could even say way better!)
She NEVER disappoints me. (But that ending heck no it doesn't exists to me) Stevie thought me sooo much that now I can solve anything I FEEL I CAN BE A DETECTIVE NOW NO JOKE. Loved the feeling of being in London it was all so... aesthetic ahhahahah.
It probably doesn't deserve 5 starts (maybe 3.5) but I love the characters so much that at this point the feel like friends.
3.5
I wanted to read something similar to “the summer I turned pretty” and this is kind of like it. Just kind of. I don't read romance novels for one reason: Insta love. This book was pretty much insta love, but it was still pretty enjoyable and cute.
(personal note: WHat doOes WiT hAs to BE blOnDe???)
3.5 ✨ I loved this is kinda like your watching a vampire show i absolutely devour it lol
4.5
This is the kind of story that makes me wonder how am I supposed to come up with a story better than this. V.E. Schwab SWALLOWED me on this world with her writing. I was LITERALLY watching a movie. And the world is weird on its own way, but just the way she described it you couldn't get confused.
I want to hug Olivia, such a good character. The story it self is a masterpiece. It was creepy but in a good way. Tho the ending left me wanting for more, I just feel happy that she got to discover her family and her home. The WRITING tho!! SO GOOD! I can't believe I didn't pick this up sooner.
The only negative thing I have to say is that I didn't quite understood Olivia's dad. I can picture him how I imagined him, but the book never really describe how he is. I mean it does, but for me I needed just a tiny bit more of describing.
I think this book was written for me. So addicting. This is the type of mystery that I live for. If it wasn't for the fact that I MISSED one of the most important plot twist of the book, this would HAVE bee n a 5 star. idk what happened, but I missed something important. And then the plot twist happened and I was like “wait hold up??? She said that?? WHEREEE??”
