The story was cute, but it escalated too quickly. There was not enough development in the world building. Also, it would have been better if the romance was a slow burn.
This is a very cute story about a little girl who wants to be a witch. The art is beautiful. Great for fans of Harry Potter, since is has that vibe. I really enjoyed this book and will read the rest in the series soon! :)
This book is just beautiful. The art is gorgeous and the story is intriguing. I am planning on reading the rest of the series because I want to know what happens.
Book was filled with unlikeable characters, which made it impossible to feel for any of them. The story itself kept me interested until the end.
This book is very disturbing, but I really enjoyed it. I pretty much read it in one sitting. It was hard to put down.
I bought this book at a library book sale so I thought I would give it a try. I have never read any of Cassandra Clare's books. I am actually a little too old for the story. I think 15 year old me would have loved this series. The story was fine, but I felt it to be a little too young for me. I am a little curious about what happens in the series. I may pick up the next book in the future, but it is not something I really need to read right now. It is a good YA fantasy book.
This book was way too slow. This is the third Ava Reid book I tried to read and I didn't like any of them. I just don't mesh with her writing style and that's okay. Her books are just not for me.
This book had so much potential that was wasted on a weak ending. I feel duped. I gave it 3 stars because I actually enjoyed 80% of the story.
I struggled with this story. It is way too boring. I wasn't enjoying myself, so it's a DNF.
I really enjoyed The Illumine Files by Kristoff & Kaufman, but this one was a miss for me. Too many of the basic tropes. I just couldn't get into it. This is one I might audiobook at a later date.
I was having a good time reading this book, right up to the end. The ending seemed rushed and predictable. It was just okay.
A dark and twisted take on the Disney version of Aladdin. A lot better than the first book in the series, “Once Upon A Dream”. Very enjoyable!
The beginning of this book played out almost exactly liked the movie. It started to get interesting about 200 pages in. The story took a dark turn, but I was left almost unsatisfied in the end. Four stars because this happens to be my favorite Disney movie.
A darker rendition of Sleeping Beauty. For some reason, Aurora really annoyed me throughout the book. I was hoping to like this book more than I did because I love the movie. This twisted tale was just okay to me.
A beautifully written story about witches, murders that spanned over 200 years and a love story that broke my heart. I couldn't put it down. A fast, but magical must read.
I know people who read Sanderson says that this is not his best work (including him), but I had a fun time reading this. His books are quite intimidating since they are so long, but this is a good starting point to his novels and the Cosmere universe. Sanderson is a master of world-building and his writing immerses you into his imagination.
This will be the last Philippa Gregory book I read. I realized that all the books in this series is the same story, but from different points of view. Too boring and repetitive. Average at best.
Read the first 100 pages and was so uninterested in the story that I couldn't continue. I liked Holly Black's “The Folk in the Air” series. I thought I would give this a try, but no. The characters are all unlikable and the story was weak. This is one of only two books this year that I dnf'ed.
2.5 stars. The stories were nothing to write home about. Nothing memorable. If you like young adult urban fantasy short stories, then you might like this.
Such a fun and delightful manga. I had such a great time following Luffy and his crew on their adventures. I can't wait to pick up the next volume.
I'm glad I read this right after “Clockwork Angel”. This book didn't skip a beat from the first book. Some of Tessa's decisions were a little annoying, but the story itself was interesting. Hopefully the last book in the series will tie up all the loose ends. I am expecting a lot of drama and action.
This was the only Cassandra Clare series I really wanted to read. I had a lot of fun with the 1800s, steampunk vibes of this book. I usually don't care for love triangles, but the one portrayed in this book gave me heart-eyes. Clare's writing is a little juvenile and I do get some Harry Potter vibes in some scenes, but it was overall a fun book to read.
I read this book right after the first book in the series “The White Queen”. I really struggled to read this book because it was actually an almost rehashing of the first book, but from a different persons perspective. I found it too boring and repetitive. I finally finished it and will not pick it up again.
I have a soft spot for historical fictions and this one satisfied my craving for one. The story was interesting enough and kept me captivated the entire time. It was an enjoyable read.
