One of the best Killing Eve fanfics I've read in a while. Very descriptive and I can't wait to read what else the author has out.
I bought this at a convention in 2016 and it collected dust until I finally read it. I'm glad I made the purchase because this comic was gold. I enjoyed the introduction of the crazy Harley Quinn and even though Barbara Gordon was a bit too “goody” for my taste I did enjoy the dynamic between her, Harley and Ivy. If I could find the series as volumes online I would buy them to continue reading.
Purchased for 50 cents. Worth a penny. Comedian #1 is from the “Before Watchmen” limited series that I am now hesitant to read because of how awful this comic was. This comic did not do the original “Watchmen” character any justice, now mind you I haven't read Watchmen in 7 or 8 years so my memory is a bit foggy but I don't remember The Comedian being so bland. The Comedian is supposed to be ruthless and raw. The story did not pack any punch and was very dull to get through. I was excited to read this because I wanted to pick up the series but now I am not sure.
I have a love / hate relationship with Charmed. I read the Season 9 comics and they were okay, nothing mind blowing. The reviews I saw for this were good, so I had to pick up a copy and read. SPOILERS AHEAD JUST SAYING -> I didn't like the artwork. Shannon Doherty didn't give the rights for Charmed to use her likeness, so “Prue” is a blonde haired woman who is covered in tattoos. The story line is also riddled with plot holes and doesn't really connect to the television show. Cole is back? I know he was in the Season 9 comic but why is he still in the story? Also, Coop aggravates me. The story line ended in a cliffhanger. I don't care, I won't be buying volume 2.
I was being generous giving this 2 stars.
The photo's in the book were okay. I love photography so there is nothing off limits but the images looked the same as I progressed. . I still skim through this book from time to time.
I wanted to like this, I wanted to give this 5 stars, I wanted to be blown away. Sadly, this comic was garbage the only thing good about it was the cover. I bought this as at a convention that was slightly overpriced, but it was a Buffy comic so my naive little mind thought that since this was a Buffy comic it was going to be filled with greatness.
The artwork in the is very childlike and reminded me of Archie comics. The story was too predictable, and felt like the sad plot from a bad TV episode. Spoilers? Who cares, it's trash. Without giving too much away the plot goes like this, Xander gets bullied, bully threatens him, he meets the bully to fight, but something supernatural is in the air. It's worth the money because it's Buffy The Vampire Slayer but the story is lacking. As a Buffy The Vampire Slayer fan I got this just because its a piece of memorabilia that I can have forever.
2 stars added because I am a BTVS stan.
I don't even remember where I bought this comic, I think it was a freebie but I don't know for sure. In all seriousness, this comic was a freaking mess that made zero sense. She isn't the Jokers daughter, she grew up in a loving home, and just happened to be deranged. The artwork is the reason why I bumped it up to 2 stars and not 1. The villain should have been properly introduced, then maybe the comic wouldn't be so bad, and have the plot holes. I still don't understand why she is called The Joker's Daughter. She seemed like another villain groupie to me.
I messed up by getting my hopes up. The only time I've every come across Street Fighter was late nights at the laundry mat as a kid living in Queens. I didn't like this comic at all. It was just a corny attempt to sell Lootcrate.
Quick read and this is very outdated. Initially I thought this was a guide for all iPhone photography but this book came out in 2011 back when the iPhone 3 and 4 was around. If you have an iPhone 5 and up then you can use the tips given with a grain of salt. Also the apps stated throughout the book are outdated as well. I did enjoy discovering new artists though.
Got this at a flee market for 50 cents, the backstory about the X-men is slightly intriguing, however since the artwork isn't the greatest, and religion is thrown in, I won't be trying to buy the rest of the series.
I was honestly surprised with how good this was. I bought it for $6 at MegaCon. The author was able to capture the ding bat Xander is and the broody mess Angel was. The story incorporating Joyce was a great add as well.
This is for the FCBD May 2018.
Not a fan very kiddish for my liking, won't be buying in the future unless it's a Harley Quinn stand alone. Even though she was in one panel it was funny.
I will be gifting this to my godson, he will like it.
Got this yesterday for free comic book day. There were two comic stories in here. Overwatch and sneak peak of The Quantum League
Overwatch: I've never played the game and before getting the free comic, didn't know they had a comic series. I didn't really care for the story, it seemed very predictable, and I probably won't buy any future Overwatch comics. The artwork was really nice though. I gave this 2 stars.
The Quantum League: Really captivating. The suspense kept me on my toes. I haven't read anything about this series before but when I have time I plan on catching up. The artwork wasn't as good as overwatch, TQL was very cartoony. Gave this 4.5 stars.
For a free comic I was impressed.
This journey was completely rushed, the characters had no depth, and one secondary character had no resolution. The “good guys” were perfect with little flaws and the “bad guys” were either 100% bad or 95% bad with 5% of goodness used to benefit the “good guys”. Imagine the most cringeworthy cheesy lifetime movie and turn it into a book.
Spoiler Ahead: Roni would get beat by her crazy uncle yet showed no emotion, it was weird. The only character with an ounce of emotion was Rob, he moved mountains to get his daughter back which is rare to see, but it was a nice touch that made the novel inspiring in a way.
Nice little one shot based off of the history of the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Would love to read about some adventures that took place here! Free to read if you're interested in some more knowledge in the HP magical world! Who knew a sad beginning could end up a happy ending.
I could be biased because I love Stephen King. I wanted to feel bad for the main character but he was mean. Everything around him turned to shit within the hours.
I took my time to read this because I wanted to absorb it all. I really enjoyed this short ebook on street photography and Henri Cartier Bresson. Eric Kim as a bunch of free ebooks that are beneficial for photography enthusiasts in any stage.
This was interesting and something I will reference from time to time. I read the free PDF version from Eric Kim's blog which is about 45 pages. I definitely recommend because there are some helpful tips in there.
Some spoilers ahead.
The Zero Meter Diving Team was an interesting read. I had to google some Russian words / phrases I was not familiar with but I always like learning new things. This story is about three brothers caught in the Chernobyl disaster that happened in the 1980's.
I found myself relating to the narrator who happened to be the eldest brother. His reaction to the disaster and it's after math is astonishing. A lot of things needed to be said by the brothers that was not said. I believe this was written to explore the relationships of siblings and the Chernobyl disaster was used as a back drop of some sorts.
The story felt genuine and true, as if I was reading a diary into the thoughts of an ordinary man with family problems. The author was able to capture the horrific scene of the Chernobyl disaster and put it into his short story without missing a beat. You would think a disaster of this size required more pages but it did not, Shepard made it work flawlessly.
I didn't read No One Belongs Here More Than You, where the short story was published originally. I am just reviewing the one short story I came across. I thought this boring and it actually made me angry.
The narrator is woken up by a noise and she hears someone coming up the stairs in her apartment. Instead of getting up to kick some ass, she does nothing. She lays in bed and has an inner conversation with herself and thinks about her life. She's unarmed, someone is in her apartment, she leaves her boyfriend that is described as an asshole asleep, and she does not do a damn thing.
She talks about her boyfriend and we see some parallel with the intruder and her boyfriend. She hates them both and technically they are both strangers to her. The story was disappointing. I was angry with the woman for not standing up for herself, for not doing all in her might to fight back, and for staying in a loveless relationship.
No One Belongs Here More Than You, has some good reviews so I may give it a shot, and read.
The savage award goes to Aunt Muriel who knew what was going on.
“I could tell,” she said with some impatience. “I used to be a devil myself.”
Great read, the author really captures the emotions of the main character. Read for free on the New Yorker website: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2001/02/19/what-is-remembered
