This was a delightful read. I never thought I would find something that resembled Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone, but Miss Charlotte Frayne has the same whit and charm. It was easy to get into and follow Charlotte's detective work. I love having an easy good read between more intense books. This book did just that, I was already a fan of the Murdoch Mysteries tv show, and really enjoyed being taken back in time to Toronto in the 30's.
Delightful easy read. Hope there will be more Miss Frayne soon!
I don't know what to say, I really didn't know what to expect when I decided to read this book. I have had books that I couldn't stop reading but reading a book all on the same day is a very rare thing for me. This book was a page-turner and it was funny and sad and gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling. Without spoiling it, I hope we all can be like Missy! Loved this book and highly recommend it. It was beautifully written and brought me to tears on various occasions!
Interesting, it keeps you guessing along with Elin (the main character) It's funny how it felt like I was following her around the whole time.
I'm giving it 3 stars but I would likely only give it 2.5. I already knew that I wasn't a fan of the author, just didn't attract me too much. His style of writing doesn't really play into my style, but I had a few friends recommend the book and thought of giving it a chance and keep an open mind. I was right, there are interesting passages and things you can apply to your life, but as many have said, it's basically a fiction self-help book, so it's always open for interpretation. The ending was vague and confusing. I honestly think its a bad attempt of The Little Prince. (now that's an awesome book) I guess I had to read it to formulate an opinion. Conclusion: Aren't we happy that there are so many authors and books in the world to please everyone! :)
This was such a fun read! All the characters were just so relatable and they draw you in. It makes you want to start a journal journey of your own. It's funny how the perception of your authentic self and your real authentic self can be so different and how you see yourself and how others see you are usually completely different and both are the composition of you.
A great read, did this one in one sitting. Great book.
Wow! That was pretty good. Although it had some interesting twists, would've liked a more detailed ending, but still, great reader, kept me on my toes the whole time. Total page-turner.
The was a great read! For all those who love a great courtroom and mystery novel. Highly recommend.
It's a great reference book, easy to understand and use! Was so happy with this find.
3.75 - I'm a curious person and enjoy tales about unsolved mysteries and historical events, this was a really cool story, I came into not knowing anything about Ambrose Small, came out of this knowing about him, his family and Toronto of the early 1900s along with how investigations were done back then, including that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was asked to investigate the case. We may never know whatever happened to Ambrose Small, but it is a curious unsolved mystery. Thank you Katie Daubs for bringing this to us!
The only con for me with this book was I had a hard time following all the details, and hence the 3.75 rating. Overall, it was pretty cool.
Wow! As a time travel junkie, this just hit the spot! Listened to this in just one day. I couldn't even concentrate on anything else except the book! Has so much sympathy for Oona. It's one of those books that you want to keep knowing what will happen next. Hopefully, there will be a sequel to this, really want to know where the next leap will take Oona. Awesome read!
Interesting twist, truly a good psychological thriller. If that's something you're into highly recommend.
Awesome short read! Highly recommend this to any creative out there. I listened to the audiobook and read the ebook. I believe doing both gives you a better understanding and insight into the small yet empowering book.
I had never read Edgar Allan Poe before, started reading some of the poems which were quite nice some more morbid than others, but this was out there, horror and gore. Not usually my style, but understand why he's an acclaimed author and a reference to so many other great authors.
Like the concept, now will need to try the process before commenting any further. Gave it 4 stars because it's written in an easy to understand manner and makes you want to at least try the method and see if it works for you. So, going to give it a try.
