More uneven but with some standouts — Dying Detective, Bruce Partington, Lady Carfax (a rare horror story) and the title story.
Narrator: Stephen Fry
A great perennial Halloween read. Stephen Fry gives a fantastic read of an undeniable classic.
A solid mystery story, and a loose inspiration for the movie. Lot of old folks’ remembrances on “the good old days” in this one.
A fine premise spattered with the gory unnecessary parts of a typical horror novel. Appropriate to the material, this could’ve gone so many other, better ways. (Last exit did it better.)

Really enjoy the stakes and the drama of two overlapping future stories. My favorite of Gibson’s novels.
A greatly sketched ghost story, though with a bit more Brontë and Beauty and the Beast than I'm precisely in love with.
A remarkable, heavy, blood-soaked and darkly beautiful story. A tombstone in the night reworked to a trail marker pointing you home. Too gory and sharp-edged to recommend to many, but I'm not sure the truth and beauty would land punches as hard if not for the contrast. Not for everyone and not for the faint of heart.
