This was an awesome book! I love Jess and Emory, and this ends their current story on a perfect note.
Lots of action, very funny, pretty much perfect if you like the previous books. I'd love more adventures with Jess & Emory.
The fun side characters are one of the best things about this world, and I especially loved Reynard & Shirdal in this one. They'd make a great spin-off.
Fated to the Wolf Prince is pretty damn good and the series has potential. It's a fast, easy read, and I got into it immediately.
I love the dynamics of the MC and her two best friends. The love interest is typical but not in a bad way, and I'm thrilled he doesn't smell like sandalwood. We get POVs from both the female and male leads, which I always enjoy.
It's pretty funny, and I laughed a fair amount. The lore is decent, the characters are pretty good, and I'm intrigued in the overall storyline.
Nice continuation in the Hunted Omegas series. I read this quickly, it's pretty much what I expected after reading the first book.
Fast, easy read with lots of spicy scenes. Decent lore, intriguing overall story. I'm excited to read the next one.
I loved this book & can't wait for the next one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Wolf Vs The Vampire is the first story in Daphne's series set in a wider world. We first meet her with Chloe in The Waif in the Wilds, and it explains some of her backstory, but isn't necessary to read first.
This was not very good.
There's so much here that I want to like. The town is whimsical, the secondary characters have potential. There's magic.
It started off interesting and got my attention quickly, but then it just kinda dragged on.
The characters are okay. They're just kinda there. Doing things. No real feelings, no insights. Just problem, then WHAM, here's a solution and on to the next thing.
I have no real issue with where the plot goes, but the journey is clinical and boring. Detached.
Nothing felt earned.
This is pretty good, but very very long. Frances is a pretty good main character, and I love the secondary cast. She puts together an awesome found family clutch.
There's tons of action, and a good amount of character development. Lots of humor and wit. But you could cut out some significant chunks and it wouldn't be missing anything. Romance is there, but is way down the priority list.
Overall, I'm glad I read this story. I enjoyed it.
It walks the line between loving homage and playful satire, delivering action-packed entertainment for readers who appreciate their urban fantasy with both heat and humor.
Don't take yourself seriously and enjoy the spicy ride ;)
Good ending for Aspen and Ranger, and I'm excited for the novella.
Mating Season is a fun mix of action and steamy shifter romance tropes. It's basically a satirical love letter. This series doesn't take itself too seriously - bust out the popcorn and enjoy.
Perfect ending to Lucy's second trilogy! I love this world and these characters, and this was everything I wanted for her story.
Each new book in this series makes it all the more richer. The characters are compelling and the world is captivating.
I'd love more books that show the last big thing that's hinted at. This story is concluded, and everything wraps up nicely, but I'd love a few books that show us the details. I need more Lucy and Greg in my life.
Also don't forget to read the bonus story that's available - it's awesome!
This is the best book in the series so far. I got to read this early because I'm a lucky duck, and I devoured it. Leigh's story is fucking good.
I liked both Bri and Shay, but Leigh is an amazing character. This story had me on an emotional cliff for most of it. And even though I was promised HEA for our couple, I was still on the edge of my seat.
The world is good, the lore is getting more fleshed out, and the characters are going places. Both literally and emotionally. I like where the bigger plot is heading - we get enough details and action in each story, without sacrificing character development.
I love the dual POV and the epilogue endings. I can't wait to read the next one.
This is a cute and very short romance with no real stakes. There's no bad guys, there's no drama. It's basically a meet-cute with a bunch of magical creatures.
WOW! I devoured this book and it was epic. Absolutely amazing way to wrap up Saber and Zak's stories.
After the events of the Twice Scorned Lady of Shadow, I was afraid of what might happen to my favorite murderous druids and how they'd handle it.
This book was impossible to put down. Annette Marie is great at planting seeds and having them payoff later, and there's so much of that here. Especially if you've been following Zak through Spellbound & Warped.
Unveiled has been a dark and exciting series, and it's fitting that Saber's final book is filled with even more tragedy, just for her to kick ass and realize how strong she is. And that she isn't alone.
I love how Lallakai was dealt with, and while I expected it, I was surprised anyway. It was perfect.
There is an epilogue, and it's awesome. And then there's a BONUS EPILOGUE – which is even more amazing.
AMAZING!! Fantastic follow-up to the intro of Saber, my favorite knife wielding not-a-witch. I loved how she - and we - finally get some answers about her past.
Zak and Saber are still spicy, and there's a lot of growing here for the two of them. They finally talk...sorta, and get some things out there that needed to be said. Zak has really grown since we first met him, and this story would be very different if it weren't for the events in Spellbound.
While I am here for the slow burn of Zak and Saber, I am very intrigued by Rikr and his past as the Winter King. We find out what's important (at least what Rikr says is important and only time will tell if he left out something interesting) and I love the way it goes down.
I really enjoyed Lallaki's role in this one, and I'm super excited we're going to find out more about her in the next book. I bet her story is dark and twisty and I can't wait.
The end sets up the next story in a perfect Guild Codex sort of way, and it's gonna be a tough wait for the next book.
And we're back with the next adventure of our favorite magical law enforcement duo! I tried not to rush through this book, but it was so good I couldn't put it down.
Kit and Lienna's chemistry continues to heat up, but they aren't rushing it. They both have some really good development in this book, and everything feels natural based on what we know about them. There's some honesty that's needed to come out, and the way it's handled is perfect.
The main story is solid and stands on its own without the other Guild Codex books, but if you've read the rest, you will LOVE all the insights and Easter eggs. Plus there are some great cameos I didn't expect (friends and foes alike), along with a few knowledge bombs that made my day.
The world building and imagery is as good as ever - I always feel like I'm right there with the characters, through every laugh and joke, to every stab, sometimes to a literal heart.
There are so many hilarious moments! This book has more heart, action, and hilarious hijinks than the first two, which says something because they were great. How Captain Blythe ropes them into the secret investigation. The budding bromance between Kit and Zak. Sir Sparkles the Joy Bomb. Darius being...Darius.
Overall, Rogue Ghosts & Other Miscreants was a fantastic read, and I can't wait for the next book!
If you liked Warped #1, you're in for a TREAT with this one!
We jump back in with Kit working for the MPD and torturing his desk mate with fun warps. He and Lienna team up for an investigation into demonic activity, leading them on a wild and dangerous ride.
The chemistry between Kit and Lienna is chef's kiss and I love them! Their back-and-forth is hilarious, and they work well together.
If you've read the other Guild Codex books, you'll be rewarded by with some familiar faces and insights into other characters and events.
I love this book! Kit's a complex character, with baggage and a little trauma that causes fun consequences a few times. He's hilarious, clever, full of great movie references, and quite charming when he wants to be. I love his reactions, his quips, and his heartfelt moments.
While the Warped series and this book are a part of the Guild Codex universe (making them so much more fun if you've read Spellbound and Demonized), Kit can carry his own. He's not perfect by any stretch, and makes a few dumb decisions of course, but the authors have done an excellent job of conveying his reasons and motivations. Everything he does makes sense for him, whether it works out or not.
If you like magic, adventure, and fun, you'll like this book.
This book was a fun start to my love affair with The Guild Codex series. A human bartender working at a magic guild - count me in! But when I started book one, I had no idea what I was in for. Three Mages and a Margarita introduced me to a world that is immersive and alluring and hopeful and dark, and so much more.
There's everything you could want in an urban fantasy novel - magic, love, power, corruption, friendship, loyalty, mystery, intrigue, betrayal...the list goes on. The characters are well written and feel authentic, with their own motivations that make sense. I've laughed, I've cried, and everything in between.
As soon as I finished this book, I binged the rest of the series and it was so worth it.
Really liked this book. The ghosts were great, the bad guy was interesting and I liked the whole adventure. Best part was the epilogue with Brutus. I'm excited to start the next book and see where it goes
It took me a bit to get into the story, but it picked up and I was invested by the end. I listened to the audiobook, so misspellings may follow.
I like the main characters, Ivy & Rafe. They have a fun chemistry and I liked how they handled things with each other. The Order is interesting, and I'm intrigued by what we've seen so far. I do wish there was more depth to this world, and hopefully it'll expand in the next book.
Overall it was good and I'm fixing to read the next one.
Wow...this book was incredible. After how we left things at the end of Persepolis Rising, I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't it.
I'm writing this 2.5 years after I finished Tiamat's Wrath for the first time, and a week after I finished it for the ... ~10th time. So saying I like this book and this series is a bit of an understatement.
If you're reading this review, chances are you liked the previous Expanse books (plus we're ages past its release date) so I'm not going to worry about spoilers after this point. You've been warned.
So the opening is a bit of a heartbreak. Take a cry break if you need to, but power on because this book is real good.
While Holden has never been my favorite (I've always liked him, but he gets edged out by a decent margin), he really grew on me here. He's learned a lot and I love what he does with his shit situation after getting captured on Medina in Persepolis Riding. The way he interacts with everyone, the dancing bear, the way he just has to push a button if he sees it.
Naomi continues to level up her awesomeness with each book. She's boss level now and I love it.
Alex just keeps doing his thing and continues to be the heart and soul of the Roci crew.
Bobbie Draper is the most badass woman to ever exist, and everything about her character is perfection.
Amos. The last man standing. His whole arc in this book is great and rivals his post-apocalyptic trek with Peaches.
Elvi makes a fun re-appearance and I'm so glad. I liked her in Cibola Burn (yes, even her crush on Holden, I thought it was realistic!) and I like her here. She's another awesome woman who gets shit done in her way.
Teresa is a nice new addition and I hope she sticks around for the last book. But if you didn't like Elvi in Cibola Burn, you'll probably need to dust off your Liz Lemon eyeroll for some of her chapters. She's a bit cringe at times, given she's the teenage daughter of a galactic dictator, but her story is important, interesting, and pretty funny.
While there's some heartbreak in this book, the ending is happy-ish (I mean, we are still in the Expanse series, it's not a Disney movie) and will leave you eagerly anticipating Leviathan Falls.
The Vampire and the Case of the Cursed Canine is an another awesome book in an amazing urban fantasy series! I can't wait for the next one.
This is a fun read. It's a cross between a love letter and satire, and I'm here for it.
It's tropey, it's steamy, it's full of action.
If you like shifter romances, urban fantasy, watching drama with popcorn, and don't take yourself too seriously, you'll love this book.
HOLY SHIT! I am reeling. This book was so damn good. It's such an incredible follow-up to The Long Forgotten Winter King.
We get so much Zak, more than we ever have. And Saber really grows in this book. Rikr is great of course and I love his relationship with Saber. We find out what really happened all those years ago and it's so fitting.
But best of all, Lallakai. This is her story and she shines. Oh boy does she shine. Without getting into any spoilers, I went into this hoping for one thing and left it with the exact opposite feelings. And SO many of them.
Lallakai has always been an interesting character, and as a reader, I've been at odds with her. Sometimes I love her and other times I hate her. But through it all, she is spectacular. Since she was first introduced, I've wanted to know more about her past and it was better than I hoped.
One of my favorite things about the Unveiled books is getting to find out more about fae and druids, and I was not disappointed here. There was one cameo I didn't expect, and was super pleased about. Saber gets her druid name, which is badass and so perfect for her.
Also loved Saber's intro to the Crow & Hammer. I knew as soon as Kit mentioned it in the last book, it would be fun. And it was. Went better than I expected. Can't wait for the next book for more C&H shenanigans. Saber would make a fun bounty hunter.
This book deserves all the damn stars! SOOO GOOD. Each Unveiled books gets better and I CAN NOT WAIT for the next one.
Wow, that was a magnificent ride.
It's hard to say how great this book is without coming off like a fangirl, but my god, it was amazing. I LOVED THIS BOOK!
Unveiled introduces a new main character who is nothing like the previous leads in the Guild Codex. This book can be your introduction to this world because it's a stand-alone series, but it's so much richer if you've read the others.
Saber is a ... train wreck when we meet her. Or maybe she's a bomb trying medium-hard not to explode. Either way her story is intense and exciting to read. Her backstory is tragic and her actions, while not exactly what a civilized person would do, are fairly understandable for who she is and what she's been through. We don't get everything of course, and there are some hints of more to come.
And then there's Zak. For those of us already familiar with the one and only Crystal Druid, this book is a supremely delicious treat. We get to see so much more of him, and every bit is fantastic. More insight into his relationship with Lalakai and his past, which helps explain some of his actions in Spellbound and Warped. We see how Tori and Kit have changed him, and how he's dealing with the aftermath of his decisions.
The passion between Saber and Zak is already sizzling, and I'm here for it. But it's not just hot - and I wouldn't call it cold. It's ... very fitting for who these two people are.
One of my favorite things about Unveiled so far is the focus on fae. They are heavily featured, and we meet some familiar familiars (sorry couldn't help it) and plenty of new characters. And of course we get a couple cameos and Easter eggs from the greater Guild Codex world, which is always fun.
The world building is excellent, the pacing is solid, and the ending is incredible. It wraps up the main story and leaves you primed for the next book: The Long Forgotten Winter King.
I love Amber and this book was awesome! Perfect start to her series and I can't wait to read the next one.
This is one series in a bigger world that has some truly awesome characters. I can't choose which MC is my favorite which is saying something.
