This was a part of a book group read-along and WHEW, this was certainly steamy. Also, a pleasant surprise that the female lead was a black woman. Granted, a light-skinned one with bleached blonde hair but I'll take what I can get at this juncture. Really quick read too.
Wow ok so I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. Had some BDSM elements that I expected from the synopsis but also some that I did not. Also shockingly did not have a crappy ending, a miracle.
The main male character is British which isn't a turn on for me but there's recipes in the back so YAY!
The final book in the series, it was really cute and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I were reading all this during the Christmas season instead of the tail end of winter.
Never read a romance about a couple that's already married. Their marriage is falling apart and they went and got real help! Wow, a concept. Also, this author can write dirty talk with the best of them.
It was short and kinda boring. I read it in an hour and didn't particularly enjoy it. I didn't hate it either. Just. Meh.
Shout out to the author for the plot twist at the end there. Didn't even need it but hey alright now.
Academia is trash and this book kinda goes into the harsh parts of the whole gig. But also the female lead's insecurities had me rolling my eyes a lot lol sorry
Didn't enjoy this as much as the first one. The world the author is building is fascinating though and I wonder which sister is next.
Very quick read. Super sweet and on trend for the festive season. Shout out the Gravy the cat, as well.
Excuse me but I LOVED THIS. If it becomes a movie I would watch it every festive season. It starts off a bit slow but when it picks up? Dazzling!
I read this as a dare of sorts. A friend read it unironically and thoroughly enjoyed it but MAN this was weird af. I don't have any Santa fetishes of any sort and I think you kinda need that to enjoy this book 100%. It's not bad, but it's not good. It's just...Santa erotica. Which is wild af to me lol
A super quick read, it was also very cute. Just two normal people who got married and have some issues to work through and work through them BY COMMUNICATING, wow a novel concept. That never happens in romances so LOL. I minus-ed a star because the heroine did some silly things that made me squint.
This series was recommended to me by a friend and all I can say is eyeball emoji. LOL
Man I dunno the comments about the lead character's skin color made me uncomfortable as all hell but I also hate when brown people are referred to as mahogany? Might just be me as a POC. Anyway it wasn't badly written but... there are some parts I couldn't get over and found myself rolling my eyes a lot. I'll try the next book in the series. Maybe I'll be less annoyed if they're both just regular white people and I don't have to be on edge about the story.
Also the mystery in this book? Solved in one paragraph. I legit laughed out loud.
I was provided a copy of this book to review thanks to NetGalley.
That said! I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It had more depth than I have come to expect from historical romances. Georgie was likable and a true romantic at heart but not a pushover. I enjoyed Gavin's suffering as he fought his love as well. This was my first book by this author and I'll be sure to check out her other work.
Ok did NOT expect this to be my favorite in the series. Nya is so relatable and that adage “you dream too big, girl” I felt that in my shundo. Johan was just as complex and angst ridden as I came to expect after his appearances in the previous books but that surprisingly didn't make him less lovable. This was my favorite book I read this month.
I did not read the first book in the series but this was easy to pick up and dive in without feeling like I missed something. If anything, this book made me want to read the first and see how Chase and Minerva's story unfolded. Anyway, in this one we meet the space case that is Kevin Radnor, god bless him. He's presented as a brilliant man but I wanted to clobber him over the head with a chamber pot. Rosamund was a lovely heroine however and I felt like we got more insight into why she did the things she did. I also felt that in the grand scheme of historical romances, this one was a bit more realistically written in terms of how the two main characters related to each other, and I appreciate that.
This is a Sam stan account. He's so kind, so wonderful. He's funny as hell too. Lord I see what you have done for others...
Tessa Bailey is really THAT author. Also, lowkey, the dirty talk queen.
This is now a Leo stan account.
