oh i'm obsessed with this book, it might be my favorite t. kingfisher yet, which i feel like is saying something. it really had everything i love in a horror, and was a perfect read for me.
i can't talk about it without talking about spoilers sooo i feel like there's so much i want to gush about with this book, like how much i loved the main character, and the symbolism of vultures, and HAUNTED. FUCKING. HOUSES. but my FAVORITE thing and i think why it really solidified from a 4 to a 5 star for me, was because of the through-line and allegory around generational trauma, and how that manifests in families. also the way this story WENT where it was hinting at with the grandmother, on purpose, but then went FURTHER, was just beyond wonderful for me. i'll never forget the scene where the house gets buried underground for as long i live, i swear........
anyway. j'adore. thanks for coming to my ted talk.
