Kate Shackleton's second professional sleuthing case turns sinister when her investigation into a pawn-shop robbery takes her to Harrogate - with murder only one step behind. A night at the theater should have been just what the doctor ordered, until Kate stumbles across a body in the doorway. And when a ransom note arrives for the safe return of the play's leading lady, Kate must piece together clues - and lure criminals out of their lairs.

The ending of this book dragged on and on and on. And on. This definitely felt like a sophomore novel. There were some odd elements that showed potential for stretching the characters beyond types but felt unfinished. I'm not ready to give up on the series because it definitely felt like the author was growing as a writer and as a result attempting to grow the characters but this book was a little wonky.
