Un magnifique roman qui se déroule dans un “lycée” américain en 1942. Le récit tourne principalement autour de Gene et Phineas, deux jeunes garçons de seize ans, amis et camarades de chambrée. L'histoire est finalement assez banale, mais le roman est magnifiquement écrit et passionnant à lire.
J'ai retrouvé dans ce livre beaucoup d'autres, quelque chose du Cercle des Poètes disparus et du Maître des illusions, le tout accompagné, au fil d'une amitié extrêmement forte aux sentiments de rivalités assez forts... On retrouve le côté strict d'un collège américain, l'amitié forte entre ses membres, ... Le livre est intéressant, tragique aussi, se construisant lentement mais sûrement vers la fin.
Je reste souvent dubitatif avec les “classiques”, je crois que c'est un peu la même chose pour celui ci. Si j'y ai retrouvé une certaine beauté, une douceur, des sentiments intéressants, il n'a pour moi pas la même force que certains autres livres du même acabit que j'ai pu lire (comme Le Cercle des Poètes disparus par exemple). Le livre reste très bien écrit, l'histoire et les protagonistes sont intéressants, mais ce n'est pas un coup de coeur.
It's been awhile since I read this but probably the best book high school forced me to read.

Este libro es todo lo que temo de los clásicos, escritura demasiado densa para mi cerebro frívolo. A Separate Place se me hizo un libro muy norteamericano, tienes que conocer su historia para entender algunas de las referencias y toda esa emoción por la guerra. En otras palabras no logré conectar en nada con esa parte de la historia y sus infinitas descripciones.Y por culpa de las descripciones infinitas estuve saltándome muchos párrafos que no hacían más que hablar de clima y por causa de eso le quitó toda la emoción del final. La manera en como el escritor nos quiere llenar de una aparente tensión para mí fue al principio solo relleno, la forma en que lo hizo era correcta, hubiera funcionado perfectamente bien de no ser por en todo lo anterior del libro me hizo cansarme el seguir la lectura.Lo único que hizo pudiera leer el libro fue Finny y la amistad de Gene y él. Estoy un poco molesta con el libro por haberme quitado la emoción del desenlace, se me hizo bastante interesante la historia central pero los monólogos internos de Gene me quitaron todo lo bonita y personal que hubiera sido esta historia para mí, por muchas de las cosas que los protagonistas viven.Twitter Blog Pinterest Tumblr Instagram
I somehow got out of having to read this in high school, but recall my sister recounting the plot of a Separate Peace when she was forced to read it. I actually chose to read it on my own.
It's coming-of-age story that I found dated and reminiscent of Catcher in the Rye. I didn't find it that bad, but the writing was a bit heavy, and I can understand why teens wouldn't gravitate to it. I certainly don't want to read it again, but glad I did. The relationship and betrayal between two boys is something that many can identify with. Nothing bad to say about it other than I've enjoyed other novels better than this.
This book was good and bad. I enjoyed reading it, but it did get very boring at some points. The plot was intriguing, I just wish it had more excitement. Sometimes there was just extra detail I didn't get think was necessary. I felt like the short story Phineas would have been better because it was plain and the author didn't have all the extra, unnecessary detail. All in all, it was a pretty good book.
