Combined a less-than-stellar modern tale of a struggling modern vintage clothing store owner with a story of a woman at the turn of the century through found diary entries. The historical story, though a little too “thoroughly modern Millie” in some instances to be completely believeable was more interesting than the modern story until the very end.
It took me an age to finish the story as it did seem to struggle to find its footing but by the end of it all I was rooting for both characters and was genuinely engaged in the outcome but it had been rocky along the way.
