I absolutely adore Warrek. I had started to really like Summer in the previous books, but she was written to be mean at first in her own book. Let's normalize not calling anyone out of their name, especially when it has been drilled in, book after book, that the people on this planet are super nice and welcoming. It's just weird. The mean/grumpy men never get called an asshole or a dick but the nice ones are.
Either way, I liked this book well enough. It needed to be adventurous, seeing as how the hero never speaks and the heroine talks too much. It would have been a book full of one-sided conversations. I still don't think I will read the spinoff series.
I thought about reading only book one of the spinoff to get a feel for it, but I don't think I'll do that. 3 stars because I just don't think the women in the series have to be assholes all of the time regardless of misunderstandings. My favorite books in the series have been where they are both respectful. I'm just at a point in my life where I don't want to have to tolerate things in escapism that I wouldn't tolerate in the real world.
