That was wonderful. I mean, dire circumstances, piles o' violence, to be sure, but I rarely see Batman go international, so the travel aspect, the introduction to European allies was entertaining. I barely knew of Squire and Knight, and I guess maybe Henri Ducard hasn't always been an ally? But he's new to me too.
I loved finding out more Batman backstory, his history with Ducard.
The dichotomy of antagonists in white Batman suits doing the dastardly deeds, while Batman is in his standard black doing his best to defuse the situation.
Just the fact that he's older, I mean, this story including mentions/references to the currently canon loss of a certain family member which is poignant (and also I hate it 😭); it presents a different view of the Batman character, having lived through that much more.
The talking about who he's saved, who he can ask for help, that he SHOULD ask for help. The parallels in choosing to kill or not to kill, and why.
Some core parts of Batman's motivation/existence, I suppose it should get old, but I always like returning to it. Being reminded of the lines a hero won't cross, (especially after reading the first Injustice series) is comforting.
