Gerri waits outside all night to audition for Big Time, her favorite televised singing competition. She thinks she can make it, but when she's kicked out of the competition early on her confidence is shaken and she thinks she'll never sing again. When a teacher at her school asks her to join a choral club, Gerri is reluctant.
