Critical Role – Vox Machina: Origins

This is a fun introduction to the characters of Critical Role, adapted from their earliest game sessions, before they began live-streaming and became an internet sensation. It manages to capture the fun and humour of the show, although the experience is naturally somewhat different - the fight scenes are much shorter, for example, and rightly so.

It's worth pointing out that, because this is the beginning of the story, Pike and Percy have yet to join the group, and Tiberius is still present. The latter is, to be honest, quite thinly drawn but, then, we see nothing of Grog's background in this, either. Otherwise, the story is effective as an introduction to the characters and, while I assume some of the details have been changed from the original, it's still easy to imagine this as the game it was based on.
