Crow Lake is set in the wild terrain of northern Ontario, where heartbreak and hardship are mirrored in the landscape, and the sins of the fathers are visited on the sons. Orphaned young, Kate Morrison was her older brother Matt's protégée. Matt, a born naturalist, was going places -- until he fell in love. And Kate has never quite forgiven him for turning his back on what could have been. In this universal drama of family love and misunderstandings, Lawson ratchets up the tension with heartbreaking humor.

This one kinda creeps up on you. Excellent read. I have a feeling I'll remember this one for a long while.

I spent the first 2/3 of the book
thinking about giving up on it.
But I kept my faith in my fellow
book lovers who'd recommended it,
and I'm glad I did. I won't say
more.
