So.. the first 2 chapters setting the scene.. amazing. Switch to 2012 and nope... For me it just fell flat.. modern language used but interspersed with language I wouldn't expect from the age group.. not to mention the cringe ‘spicy section' that I had to skip... Then the anti climax of not actually slaying the mean dude that the whole book built up to.. I wont be reading on to book 2 or 3 to find out what happens there.
Classic Nora Roberts, in my opinion–Irish, magical, lots of found family and fun animal companions. A lovely escape for a rainy afternoon.
This is exactly the type of Nora Roberts books that I love. There's magic and the battle between good and evil. There is a circle of family and friends and lovers. I loved the characters. Particularly Connor and Fin. I can't wait for their stories.
Yes, this series reminds me of other Nora Roberts trilogies (Circle trilogy, Sign of Seven trilogy) but that doesn't take anything away from the story.
I laughed, cried, cheered, and struggled right alongside this group of characters. What a journey this read was. I cannot wait to read the next !!!
