This volume was a little all over the place. Still enjoyable, but definitely liked the first two better.
The art remains flawless, but the story didn't capture me in the way vol 1 and 2 did
Very disappointing.
Weird plot jumps, another change in artist (although I do like the art and coloring, it's really annoying to have the characters look different with every collection), and none of the humor and charm from the first volume.
The story itself felt as contrived and forced as it was boring. If the next collection is this bad, that's it for me and the Rat Queens. I'll always have Sass & Sorcery, I guess...
Story
After finding out the series was on hiatus I wasn't in a hurry to pick this one up. It was great as always of course. I love the Queens, especially Betty.
Apparently the series is supposed to continue as a web series, but I've had a hard time finding exact details on how that will work. I need to read the one uncollected issue it seems. I like webcomics, but I hope this series returns to regular comics soon.
Artwork
The artwork is great. I think I might prefer Tess Fowler over Roc Upchurch. I particularly enjoyed the armor sets. The winter gear was fantastic. It looks like she had a falling out with Kurtis Wiebe, which is a real bummer.
the new art style sucks and the story was way less gripping and funny, so I'll stop procrastinating now, this actually makes me sad, the first two were amazing :(
Not as good as the first two volumes. I'm not happy to say it, I was really hoping this to get better and better. I heard it's related to some problems with the artists. Plot and graphic quality went down.
This time the Rat Queens follow Hannah to the Mage University. Some parts of Hannah's past are unveiled. Yes, demons are involved. The good part? There's an ice dragon!
GAHHHH!!!! This left me with the saddened feeling of dread just like the most recent volume of ‘Sunstone.' Noooo, Haaannnnaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!
My partner and I have a new obsession.
