Pizza-loving Sage will do anything for a ticket to Prince Louis’ birthday party, whether that’s shooting bad guys at bars, chasing them in hover cars, or dropping one hundred stories from the highest skyscraper in Diamond City. She doesn’t mind attracting a little bit of positive attention from the royal family so long as no one learns her true secret: She hails from an ancient warrior race, and kicking ass in war is her specialty.
Only those days are long over. At least, she thinks they are until her nephew sells her out to the royal family, and they’re nowhere near as air-headed as Prince Louis. Tiaras and dinner parties are far from their minds when they blackmail her into confronting a vicious (and flamboyant) warlord whose forces are invading the city. Choosing sides might have been a no-brainer, but Sage learns the royal family is using their citizens as test subjects in experiments to attain immortality, and the warlord is actually fighting to stop them.
If Sage thought kneading dough was difficult, now she must choose between a tyrannical (and charming) warlord or a bubbly prince to take the throne. If Sage wants any semblance of a normal life again, let alone run a pizza shop, she must pray that her longing for love doesn’t cloud her judgment. Then again, what girl would say no to promises of colorful weddings and spectacular fireworks, even if the guy who’s offering them has a not-so-righteous agenda of his own?

I don’t usually read sci-fi fantasy romance books but this book was pretty entertaining. Took me a second to get in the loop but I got there and immediately took a liking to Sage and then Damian came along and I was so for it. I shipped them immediately. This was definitely a fun read for me with romance, smut, action, and pizza. If you’re into sci-fi this is definitely the book for you.

Just wrapped up "Diamond City," and I can’t help but share my thoughts! Sage, our pizza-loving heroine, will do anything for a ticket to Prince Louis’ birthday party—whether it's taking down bad guys or leaping off skyscrapers. Her fearless spirit and quick wit made me instantly connect with her.
Things get complicated when her nephew sells her out to the royal family, who reveal themselves to be much more cunning than expected. Instead of the typical royal agenda, they blackmail Sage into confronting a flamboyant warlord whose forces are invading Diamond City. The plot thickens when Sage discovers that the royals are using citizens as test subjects in dangerous experiments while the warlord fights to protect them. This twist added a compelling moral dilemma that kept me on my toes!
I found Sage's struggle between a charming yet tyrannical warlord and a bubbly prince to be incredibly engaging. The way she grapples with her desire for a normal life versus her warrior past speaks to anyone who's faced tough choices. Cole’s writing is filled with humor and action, making every moment feel alive.
What really stood out to me was the exploration of love and loyalty. Sage’s longing for companionship amidst the chaos made her relatable, and I appreciated her inner conflict about what she truly wants. And can we talk about the pizza? It adds such a relatable touch to her character!
"Diamond City" is a thrilling blend of action, adventure, and unexpected twists. If you’re seeking a unique fantasy filled with strong characters and moral complexities, this book is definitely worth the read! 🍕💫
