Dragon's Egg

To be perfectly honest the premise of this book does most of the heavy lifting. There were exciting moments, but there were also less exciting. Some parts were even frustrating. I was unticipating certain description of the resolution and they were completely skipped over. But all in all I enjoyed mostly because the life on a pulsar is an immensly interesting concept to wonder about.

নভেল লেঙ্থের সায়েন্স ফিকশন মূলত কম্পিউটার এবং রোবট, মিউট্যান্ট, বা এলিয়েন নিয়ে হয়। তারা মানুষদের মারতে চাচ্ছে বা মানুষ তাদের মারতে চাচ্ছে। তারমধ্যে মাঝেমধ্যে একটু টাইমট্রাভেল, বা জম্বি অ্যাপোক্যালিপ্স... এর এমনকি কমন একটা টেম্প্লেটও আছে।

তো, এই বইয়ে এলিয়েন আছে বটে, স্পয়লার না দেওয়ার স্বার্থে শুধু বলতে চাই, প্রথাগত এলিয়েন না। এবং, তাদের সাথে মানুষের ব্যবহার এত সভ্য যে মানুষকে মানুষ বলেই মনে হয় না।

আরেকটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় হচ্ছে সায়েন্স ফিকশনের অনেকটা ফিকশন আর অল্প একটু বিজ্ঞানের অনুপাতের জায়গায় (এই অনুপাতকে আমি খারাপ মনে করি না। শুধু বলছি এটাই ডমিন্যান্ট।) এখানে গল্প আর বিজ্ঞান মোটামুটি সমান-সমান। এবং কী দুর্দান্ত, ইউনিক একটা গল্প!

শেষ এত থরোলি এনজয় করেছি টেড চিয়াঙের সায়েন্স ফিকশন।

Great book and if you can handle some bits where the author spends too long on christian allegory and some hard sci-fi, the payoff in the end is worth it.
