3.75 stars I've had this book for a couple of years and I can't believe it has taken me so long to get to it! It was so good. Not as good as Summer of Salt, obviously, but still. Highly recommend if you need a good ya contemporary with a little bit of magical realism <3 Actually I'm glad I picked this up when I did because it's helped me out of my reading slump :D
god damn this book!!! I loved SO much about this. I connected so much to Lottie & her anxiety. I loved her parents, Abe, her friendship with Em, her aunt, the discussion of mortality and the meaning of life. I think a lot of my feelings about this book are just based on my ability to emotionally connect to so many aspects of it but shit. I didn't jive with the magical realism as much as I have with it in Katrina Leno's other books and didn't really care for that part of the story but other than that, this was so fckn good.
I read this book in 2 days. If you're in the mood for a book to just feel good about, this is that book.
There are some parts that are a bit cliche which is why I gave it three instead of more stars.
