Talia. I have always been a bird. Caged by one prison or another when the only thing I ever wanted was to fly away. Sold. Beaten. Starved. Drugged. Nothing scares me anymore. Until him. He makes the numbness go away. He is hazardous to me. It has nothing to do with his mafia lifestyle, and everything to do with what he offers. A gilded prison. A retreat from everything that I once knew. The reality I have no desire to return to. He thinks he's caged me, but soon... I'm going to fly. Alexei. I live by a code. The Vory code. In this mafiya world, there are traditions. Expectations. She does not care for these things. She does not care about anything. She thinks she has me fooled with her haunted eyes. What she can't know is that I see her better than most. She wants to fly. But I'm going to clip her wings. And make her my wife. **This is a DARK mafia romance. A full-length standalone novel with HEA and no cheating.**

Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review..What an incredibly fabulous book!! I devoured the first two books in the series and Alexei & Talia's story sucked me in from page one! My heart broke over and over for these two, both two haunted souls unable to move beyond their pasts. Struggling to feel worthy in anyone's eyes... Talia finds strength in his overpowering dominance and in her he finds solace. A dark yet incredibly beautiful book about two people who slowly come to realize that no matter how screwed up any of us are, we are all worthy of love and forgiveness. HIGHLY recommended book, series and author!! Five stars just aren't doing my heart any justice on this one!? ;-)
I don't know what to rate this. This book was certainly well written but quite unsettling. I think knowing someone who went through something similar maybe makes this book a little too real for me. Maybe I'll come back and rate it, maybe I won
*update. So I've settled on 2 stars. I'm giving it 2 stars for the spicy scenes. They spice was good.
Pretty sure Talia had Stockholm Syndrome. Essentially she just went from one prison to another but now she gets to pretend her life is her own. Alexei had zero character development and I think this book should have ended by her having her freedom, learning to love herself and her life all on her own. No fucking baby entrapment. Fuck that poor child is going to be messed up.
