When Zoey finds out before her wedding that her fiancé cheated again, she desperately employs the mysterious Max to yell 'I object' at the alter. On the big day, Zoey sees a gorgeous stranger stand up and tell the entire congregation the truth about the cheating groom, blowing the ceremony apart. Enjoying the thrill from the aftermath of being saved from her own wedding, Zoey agrees to work together with Max as a love-cynic duo. When they're both hired for a wedding by a groom, who happens to be marrying the woman that broke Max's heart many years ago, Zoey sees Max wrestle with his feelings and is struck by her own jealousy. This can only mean one thing . . . Her love cynicism may be wearing off.

This was a fun, enjoyable quick read about two people, Sophie and Max, who fell in love, although they didn't want to at all cost. I enjoyed the banter between Sophie and Max and in general, the humor of this book. I was giggling a lot. Overall it was a great time. I also loved Sophie's elderly roommates and the cats. However, to the end the book was too focused on the physical relationship between the main characters for my taste. There are a good amount of spice scenes to the end and I don't enjoy reading spice that much.
i was hooked from the very beginning and it only got better! the chemistry. the banter. THE SPICE. it's a solid 5 all around from me. i wasn't sure about the whole ‘professional wedding objector' thing at first but it was so fun! the chaos of it all was kind of everything

I mean this in the best way when I say this book is 90% banter. It's funny, easy-to-read, and I had an absolute blast. Foul-mouthed, octogenarian roommates. Cute non-date dates. Quick and witty conversations.
The blurb is a little misleading. Midway through the book it turns more towards a fake dating trope than a friends-with-benefits trope (which I still love, don't get me wrong). The climax at the end is a little weak but I wasn't bored.
It doesn't have a whole lot of depth but it is a very very fun, and not at all mentally taxing. A great option for a nice palate cleanser romcom between more involved books.
