I blame Booktok for getting me interested in dark romance. This book is so messed up, but so hot at the same time. I have never giggled and squirmed so much just reading a book. “Nothing bad comes from reading a book,” Evie in The Mummy, is what I thought of. Um, yeah, except an obsession with a fictional character!
I loved the descriptions of Adeline's house. It just sets a creepy mood. I feel like her house because its own character. What I needed to get into the spooky season. I even read this overnight at work, the story was so good.
Take heed of the trigger warnings. This was the first book I read that had warnings. Things get dark and serious and I've heard the second book is darker.
The spice is well written and like I said above, I was giggling and squirming around as I read. I also loved Addie's internal battle with what her body wanted and her head said.
Recommend for a hot time and also has a spooky vibe!
