The twist had me pacing around my room. Loved this book and the creative images inside made the whole experience immersive
VERY rarely does a thriller book actually get me with the twist, but this one sure as hell did. I couldn't put this book down.
Mind. Blown.
If there's one book you need to read this month, read this one. The paranormal element elevates this book to another level. And the drawings – the drawings are the true essence of Hidden Pictures, ones that make this book stands out on its own. The drawings are creepy, but beautiful at the same time.
And the way the author got us hoodwinked, or sidetracked, eesshhh. But above all, the plot twist. Oh the plot twist! You'll be so surprised, you would have to pause and reevaluate every single word you've read.
This book is one hell of a read.
Ahhh I really wanted to like this book but I'm 80% through and it's...drumroll ✨ transphobic ✨ it's problematic in other ways but there are more accurate and in depth reviews on the page. I really liked the concept of the pictures, but the anti-leftist, fat phobic, TRANSPHOBIC propaganda was just
4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was gifted this book from my friend Kelly and I couldn't be more thankful! I loved this authors writing and it hooked me in from the very beginning. The pictures were very creepy especially in the start of the book when it wasn't Teddy's best work. I was reading it at like 1am and scared myself just from the pictures lmao.
I was so invested in the mystery that was going on. I did wish it went in a slightly different direction in the end. The ending did kind of feel like it went off the rails a bit which is why I knocked off a star. But still very much enjoyed.
Fairly solid start with a spooky setup. But the inconsistencies in decision making and the general silliness of the second half (everything past the plot twist was hilarious) really dropped the score for me.
I would say 3.5! It isn't a book I'd typically spring for but I was entertained and eager to see how it would end.
2.5 stars. It was well paced and a quick read. The pictures really added something interesting but the twist was weird. In particular there were some weird thing's that were implied about “liberals” and a weird statement about transgender people?????
I'll be honest it was confusing!!!!
This is the sort of book I think I need to do an audiobook for. This sort of mystery, horror, thriller only works this sort of way for me. There is a certain rhythm. I sort of had a sense of the twist but they really push that intensity up
I couldn't put this book down, it consumed me for an entire day. I absolutely loved everything about this. The pictures scattered throughout were such a great addition to the story and made me feel so involved. I loved the mystery threading through, loved the babysitting aspect of it, and was shocked by that twist ending!!!!! I need this author to release another book, this is definitely my type of writing style, I absolutely loved it. I have to choose my next book carefully, it will be a challenge to find something that lives up. Phenomenal.
Giving this a 3.5/5 stars because I started off this book with expectations of a mind-blowing plot twist that would have me staring at the ceiling thinking about how I didn't piece it together first. It's a good read, don't get me wrong, I personally think it's a very predictable book and I'm not a huge fan of supernatural + thriller which also loses brownie points from me (which is a me problem understandably). It was captivating though, I just wanted to know what happened in the end. This is also my sign to calm down on the TikTok recommended books. (This book was just not my cup of tea unfortunately)
Loved it! Probably the best mystery/ thriller I've read all year. The pictures were a creepy bonus.
I liked this book until around 80%, when it went a bit downhill and I might've done well to read some of the reviews here before starting.
The first quarter of this book was good, which always seems to be a red flag for me in a book. Promises like these seem to never pan out. Eventually you start to see the author's political and religious views start to bleed into the book.
I very rarely rate books one star, but when an author shows racist and anti-atheist characters prevailing it's not even about the book anymore. This book and author pissed me off.
The only thing worth redeeming is the narrator for the audiobook, who is kickass and a favorite of mine.

I read this novel as part of a Kindle challenge as it was on a ""Best of" list they were featuring. So glad I read it as it was an engaging page turner. I particularly appreciated the 1st person narrator as I found her exprince of the challenges of early sobriety to be believable and endearing. The other characters-with the exception of the Dad in the story- were also relatable and ones I wanted to get to know though the plot. I think the best part of the book for me was the inclusion of the drawings that the kid in the story made. seeing these rather than just having them described in the text made it much more engaging and enjoyable.
Just a really great book. Spooky, thrilling, emotional...everything you could ask for. Couldn't put it down. Read it.
3.5 stars. This is a fast-paced mystery with pictures! I liked that element of the book and enjoyed reading it.
I did love this book! The atmosphere was everything I did really like the twist I just feel like one of them was a bit out there I know its fiction but it just felt a bit far fetch but its definitely not gonna take away my joy for the book! The drawings were awesome and so unique! Overall a very solid thriller would've been a 4.5 if it wasnt for that grip
