This was an interesting collection of short story comics about black hair. Really, black hair at first glance, but many more societal issues at the core of the stories. My only criticism is that the art was rough and I had some trouble discerning between characters.
Of all of this year's Book Club books, this one was unfortunately my least favorite.
For me, the cursive was kind of a barrier. I am awful at reading cursive to start with and this was a bit of a messy cursive. This sounds super petty and I am so sorry about that but I genuinely wasn't positive what all of the words are so that was a definite turn-off for me.
Otherwise, I think that this is a really important book and did carry excellent messages!
