I received I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT YOU by Terry McMillan as a Library Thing Early Reviewer in exchange for providing an honest review. I knew of McMillan (and saw movies based on previous books) but this is my first read of her work. Now I want to go back and read her other books.
It's an easy, breezy book to read yet contains a lot of truth and wisdom. Georgia is 55ish and at a crossroads in her life (Should I quit my job? Should I sell my house? Will I ever fall in love again? etc.). Georgia is the narrator but the book also contains wonderful dialog with her two BFF's, her two daughters, her mother and a few others. Her idea for sorting all this out is to contact every man (5-7) that she has ever been in love with for clues to sorting out why her life played out as it did.
I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT YOU is thoroughly entertaining and very witty. McMillan is a terrific writer.
I didn't realize this was written by the How Stella Got Her Groove Back author! I love reading about women in the midst of giant changes and figuring shit out and San Francisco is a lovely setting for that. The stream of conscious narrator was also a nicely intimate way of seeing her particular point of view.
