Super cute YA romcom - if you liked the [b:To All the Boys I've Loved Before 15749186 To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1) Jenny Han https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1372086100s/15749186.jpg 21442106] series, you'll probably like this book! Probably a quick read if you don't have a newborn at home, but my attention is a little divided these days. This would be an adorable movie, with a diverse cast. I particularly love the relationship between Desi and her dad, and this made me want to watch K-dramas.
I loved this book so much!
Desi is relatable, funny, ADORABLE and my favorite protagonist of 2017 so far!
The book will cause so much second hand embarrassment but it's worth it, and now I want to check out all the k-dramas!!
I was so excited for this book, but. No. No no no no no no no.
This wasn't some cute, quirky plan. This girl was sociopathic, and her whole justification was a MESS (that is NOT how feminism works, oh my gosh).
I thought I was going to write a really long review, because I have a lot of thoughts. But I'm just so relieved that it is finally over that I would really rather put the whole thing behind me.
I gave it a second star because I enjoyed the writing style and a few other things. And because the author referenced the dad's house on the original Parent Trap, which has been my dream house for two decades. So. There's that.
I was really enjoying this one until I got to the very end. It becomes very apparent that Desi has some serious control issues that need to be addressed. They're blown off and accepted in a way that I just find unsettling. Her actions are seriously insane and dangerous sometimes. The first half of the book is definitely a fun time, but the second half is where things start to get crazy and unbelievable. The harmless antics the characters got into in the beginning were interesting enough, so I'm curious what the author will release in the future!
