I am not even sure what to say. I just... I just fell in love with this book.
It was written in a way that just captured me for the first page. The author managed to hold me in a grip the entire time.
The book is about four people, all ill and having been in and out (some mostly in) of the hospital. It made me cry so much and I just also feel it is close to a truth and does not feel so far behind correct.
So just WOW, thank you to the author
didn't love the execution of the ending twist (last 30 pages or so) but loved everything up to it, sometimes the prose can be too flowery and get in the way of effectively communicating what the author is trying to tell though
The concept is interesting and enlightening. The author absolutely has a lot of talent and potential. With more practice and refining, they can go far.
I do feel the metaphors dragged on too long. As lovely as they were, it took away from some of the emotional moments. I also found that some of the dialogue was repeated so often that the sayings lost their impact. (Ex: “You're okay. I've got you,” was said whenever someone had a an emotional moment)
I also would have appreciated a break in between character deaths. 3 in a row was quite a lot.
That all being said, i did enjoy the novel and hope to see the growth I believe Lancali is capable of!
