I've seen all the “I Heart” books on sale for a while but finally decided to delve into the first one, where heroine Angela Clark runs off to New York to escape her cheating fiancé.
It was such an auspicious start, cracking along at a great pace so that by Chapter 3 she had landed in JFK and was well on her way to a new life. And for 3/4 of the book this fast pace kept the book moving along wonderfully.
I was just a little disappointed with the last 1/4 where I felt that it began to slow, the plot became rushed and actually I found myself less than fussed about who and where Angela chose for her future.
I'd try the next novel in the series based on the majority of this book and would recommend if you are a fan of Jenny Colgan, Lucy Diamond & Veronica Henry.
Angela is that girl...the one who thinks she's in love and has a great relationship...one headed towards marriage, children and the whole shebang. That is until she finds her boyfriend in the back of her car with someone who so clearly isn't her. To top that off her best friend, whose wedding she's attending, knew. So what does Angela do? She makes her best friend cry, sends her best friend's newly-made husband to the hospital and then hops a plane to New York...from England.
So begins her journey in discovering who she really is, what she really wants and where she wants to be.
I have never been to New York but I can imagine it is just like the way it's described in this book. Fun, busy, cliche, touristy, artsy and a great place to get lost. Despite the slow spots and the endless whining from Angela (which I understand but wished wasn't so often
