Just days before graduating from St. Vladimir's Academy, guardian-in-training Rose travels to Siberia to drive a stake into the heart of the boy she loves, the monstrous vampire Dimitri.

Loved the second half of this book, when the action speeds along.
Rose's stay in Baia in the first half seemed to slow down the pacing.
Lamenting Dimitri turning Strigoi but he's still hot!

My favorite of the series so far. All the characters had a lot of growth and the story exploded beyond just what happens at St. Vladimir's. Rose spent a lot of time in Russia and took the journey she needed to get closure after what happened in Shadow Kiss.
Lovers the book like always. Not my favorite it still really good!
I'm going to say it....I was hoping Rose would let Dimitri turn her and they could be badass forever lol! I had also hoped, when I read Mansfield Park by Jane Austen for the first time, that Fanny would give Henry Crawford a chance.
The beginning of Blood Promise reminded me a lot of New Moon (The Twilight Saga). Girl loses the love of her life and does stupid stuff. And the whole decision Dimitri gave Rose reminded me of Edward and Bella making their deals on how to turn her too. But the end of Blood Promise sets up so much more! I didn't see the Abe connection, so I hope he plays more in the next two books. The Avery thing confused me a little, but I think it's setting up why Lissa shouldn't “cure” Dimitri. Or maybe she'll be the “Last Sacrifice”, which I've learned is the title to the sixth book in the series. I'm also wondering if it'll be the last?
I was unsure of all the new characters introduced but have a feeling Abe and Sydney will play recurring roles in the new books. I loved Rose's time with Dimitri's family. She could see herself fitting in with them, but she knew it wasn't right. No one could be her surrogate mom or best friend. But also great to see them accept her as Dimitri's partner.
I was mixed about her time trapped in the House of Vamps. I missed her attitude and kick ass-ness. But she got her bite fix. Which I guess shows her weakness, her tendency to be a “blood whore”. I enjoyed seeing her and Dimitri back together, however strange it might be! I'm sure the spirit ring or charm will be a hint at how they might “cure”him. I just wanted him to say those three magic words that would have gotten Rose to agree!
Loved the ending with Rose getting that stake back. I hope he still wants her forever. Like Rose, I wonder if he would have said those magic words. I did find the turned Dimitri fun, but yeah he wasn't the same and I'm a sucker for happy endings. I hope Rose will get her's. I wonder if Avery's fantasy memory will play a part in helping Rose figure out how to get her Dimitri back....will love conquer all?!
I'm looking forward to Spirit Bound!
