was really loving this - it's tense & creepy & i thought had a very interesting premise - until the end. the reveal with the motivation behind everything was just ..... :/
While on her way home one evening Zoe spots an add in the local paper with her photo and a website - www.FindTheOne.com. Sure it must be someone who simply looks like her she blows it off as a coincidence until she sees more photos with the same website. These women she has seen before, however. They've been in the news, victims of violent crimes. Worried about her safety and that of her family, she contacts the police. Detective Kelly Swift, assigned to the pickpocket case of one woman that later turned out to be murdered, believes her and works to unmask whomever is behind these ads.
This book is an entertaining read, full of twists and turns, and is told from multiple perspectives. My main issue with the book happened after I had read it and set it aside. It takes a considerable amount of suspension of disbelief in order to accept the basic premise of this book. It's well written, though, and worth the time if you're a fan of psychological suspense novels.
HOLY HELL!! This is a good book!!! I've just sat and read this in a day, I could not stop reading it. I thought it couldn't be as good as her first book but damn, she's done it again. I was completely enthralled by this story, I don't live in a big city but could totally feel the constant wariness of the characters as they were on the Tube, being jostled by other commuters, being watched by CCTV. I will give this the award of creepiest book of the year so far, so many chilling moments and that ending. Jeez. I do agree with some other reviewers in that the underlying premise is a little farfetched, however I'm not one who is put off by this. I can still happily be drawn along with a fast paced and gripping thriller, even if I have to push myself to believe it in occasion. Clare Mackintosh is now an auto-buy author, write more please!
TÀmÀpÀ on hyvÀÀ luettavaa ennen kuin matkustaa Lontooseen. Zoe asuu Lontoossa ja matkustaa metrossa työmatkojaan. ErÀÀnÀ pÀivÀnÀ lÀhijunassa hÀn lukee paikallislehteÀ ja löytÀÀ lehdestÀ oman kuvansa mainostamassa seuralaispalvelua. Perhe suhtautuu tapaukseen epÀillen - heidÀn mielestÀÀn kuva on vain vÀhÀn nÀköinen.KÀy kuitenkin niin, ettÀ Zoe löytÀÀ toisesta lehdestÀ saman ilmoituksen, jossa on toisen naisen kuva ja tÀmÀ nainen joutuu rikoksen uhriksi. Onko Zoe itsekin vaarassa?MinÀ nÀen sinut on mainio toinen teos, [b:Annoin sinun mennÀ 33149603 Annoin sinun mennÀ Clare Mackintosh https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1480441685s/33149603.jpg 42673812] oli oikein mainio ja niin on tÀmÀkin. TÀssÀ genressÀ Mackintosh on kyllÀ parhaimmasta pÀÀstÀ, tÀmÀ on hyvin kirjoitettu eikÀ ollenkaan sellaista töksöÀ, suoraviivaista kieltÀ kuin joillain trilleristeillÀ. Oikein viihdyttÀvÀ jÀnnÀri, jossa on mukavasti kekseliÀitÀ kÀÀnteitÀ.
Started off strong and intriguing - I can easily believe that the existence and popularity of findtheone.com could happen. I liked the character development of Kelly Swift.
Unfortunately the denouement with reveal of the of the mastermind was not even remotely believable. I mean, I give some leeway to thrillers for plausibility but this was just ridiculous.

What even...
Okay, let me start this review off with some positives.
> I really liked the concept and the crime. It is super scary and just interesting.
> Many of the characters were developed and flawed, so not always likeable, but real.
> The main character didn't try to become a detective and solve the caseâ this can really bother me sometimes.
>I didn't see the ending coming... let's put this in the neutral column though.
Besides that, I really had to push myself into finishing this one.
I started off bored and not quite connected. It was difficult staying in the book when the POV and tense of the chapters would change! Zoe is told in first and Kelly is told in third. It totally took me out of the book. I can't remember which was in present tense...
I was finally starting to get interested at 44% but the way this book is it feels slow paced even though it is moving at a good trot?
I disliked Kelly's disregard for police procedure and confidentiality. I won't go into it more, but wow she just... ugh. Honestly, though, both characters did things that bothered the hell out of me. Again, this comes to them being flawed and real, but also just me thinking ????WHY???
Which brings me to the ending. Without spoiling let me just say, I think the villain's reasoning is flimsy, the ability to do what they did requires suspending belief, the whole situation after they were found out made absolutely no sense to me âAT ALL!, and then the very last pages really peeved me.
Honestly, I want to rant more, but I'll leave it at that.
I don't really recommend this, I feel like there are such better thrillers out there.
Giving it that extra .5 star though for me not catching the criminal and the brief moments of time I was engaged.
