The tension between Winslow and Griffin in the very first chapter literally gave me butterflies in my stomach. I loved their relationship and I especially loved the plot, it's not often we get to read about a woman in such a high position, it was something new and I really enjoyed it.
Winnie was very hardworking and smart, I loved the way she didn't back down from those who tried to undermine her and when she put Griff in his place for acting like a neanderthal. She was also very compassionate, the way she handled Melinda was very sweet.
Griffin was great, besides the whole “women are too much work to form relationships with and i'm too busy for that but i'll gladly fuck them” thing, but other than that I liked how kind and caring he was and not just with Winnie, but with the rest of his family too.
With that being said and even though I did enjoy their relationship, I did feel as if something was missing and it was a little bland, they started out strong but then slowly fizzled out. The mystery aspect of the plot did a lot of heavy lifting and without it I highly doubt I would have enjoyed it as much.
After DNFing the copper farmhouse because I hated our hero, I am happy to say I really enjoyed this book!!
I watched an interview with the author where she recommended we start with this serious and she mentioned it had a strong suspense element which I loved! It's so hard to find good romantic suspense that balances both so well and this one was fantastic. I can tell this author loves Nora Roberts—like me :).
I look forward to reading more in the series! This book is available on KU for now
I loved the romance, mystery, and town. It was a perfect set up for the next books. I enjoyed the epilogue even had duel POV's! Which is rare!
I needed a romantic suspense so thank you PeaceLovesBooks! This was super fun and propulsive as I was reading it, but unfortunately it's started to fade already (5 days later) and I don't want to continue in the series as they aren't suspense (I believe)
Spoiler-Free Review:
Y'all this book had me by the throat yesterday while I was reading. If I'm not kid-free it's very hard for me to finish a book in one sitting/day, but I did it today because I couldn't stop! The tension between the main characters from the first chapter had me absolutely needing to see their resolution and outcome. Indigo Ridge follows Winslow Covington, the new girl in town and the town's new police chief (love a bad ass FMC) and Griffin, the oldest of the Eden siblings and the owner of the Eden ranch. On Winslow's first night in town she has a one night stand with a handsome man from a bar who swears he's not a local. Come to find out, it was Griffin, and their one night stand quickly turns into something more even though they don't acknowledge it until later. The romance is very sweet and very hot, although, I'm not sure I would call this a spicy book. There are definitely spicy moments and on page scenes, but it's not the main theme or goal of the book (in my opinion). Very quickly into the story we get an added mystery/crime solving subplot which I actually really enjoyed. It definitely kept me turning the pages as much as the romance did because I had to know who committed the crime! The twist at the end I definitely didn't see coming, and I loved that we got two epilogues! Im a closure girly what can I say
I think I hadn't read the summary before reading the book, so I was expecting a small town contemporain romance. I did get one and I also got a new chief of police heroine trying to solve a mysterious death.
All I can say is that both sides were well executed and I'm curious to read the other books in the series and see what's gonna happen next in Quincy, Montana.
The characters were well fleshed out and I really like the setting and the towns people.
Side note, the covers are beautiful
I really wish Goodreads did half stars
This was cute and kind of made me anxious
4.5⭐️
Indigo Ridge is great small town, romantic suspense. The cast of characters is large enough to flesh out the town but small enough that you get to know them all organically without being overwhelmed with information. The romance didn't feel forced and the plot remained present and moved along with everything nicely.
I wasn't left wanting anything to be different and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Absolutely addicting!!!!
Griffin is a force, and we love a cowboy.
Winn is the new chief of police and damn good at her job. She's got something to prove, and she totally proved everyone wrong who assumed she was a nepo hire.
The love story was amazing, that and the mystery made it 10x better.
And I will continue on this journey of the Eden's thank you very much. Did I enjoy this more than juniper Hill? Maybe.
