okay so this book was totally not what I expected. ya know what I didn't expect any of it at all, not even gonna lie. i love Evie and I love X. the dynamic of their relationship is just..chef's kiss. didn't expect to feel a lot of emotions either. with that being said, this is definitely a book I'll remember. I learned a lot tbh. loved every part of it
So this book doesn't actually deserve two stars. It deserves three. I give books that were just fine three stars and that is exactly what this book is. It' just fine
But I'm petty and the ending didn't sit right with me at all so I'm taking away a star out of spite. Insert shrugging emoji here
See, this book could have been amazing. Nicola Yoon is such a great writer. She could have done so much with this story. But I just felt like it was missing too much. Honestly, at a little over 280 pages long, this book was too short. The length of this book made the romance too rushed, the fantastical element of the story was brushed off to the side for most of the story, and the grand event that the story was leading up to was like two pages long. It was just so rushed. It didn't work for me.
But then, so many things were stretched out (which didn't need to be stretched out), such as the relationship with
Let's not even talk about how the love interest was named X. Why? What was the point? Sorry if your name is X but like I'm sorry.
And don't even get me started on the ending. I fucking hate that ending.
But, like, this was still cute. There was some good character development and I'm ALWAYS a slut for character development.
I've always been a fan of everything Nicola Yoon has written and this is no different! The romance in this book was super sweet but also was definitely insta-love (or at least it felt like that). The author always does such an amazing job making the characters feel real.
Thank you to Random House Children's, Delacorte Press, and NetGalley for providing me with an eBook copy to review.
Thank u NetGalley for this arc it was a wonderful read for me!!!
I loved this book so much I didn't want to put it down at all. Literally walked to the bathroom with it, The kitchen, living room even tho my mom told me to put it down I couldn't sorry mom lol. DID I CRY IN THIS BOOK YES YES I DID AHHHH IM A CRYBABY WHEN IT COMES TO BOOKS
(Spoiler)
I adored this book and everything about it. It took me 7 days to read it. I was scared I wouldn't like it. I'm glad I picked it up. X is my most favorite character he is in a band omg yes. Loved it muwah
But the most crazy thing is that Evie can see how relationships ends while they are kissing that's it had me sold all the way through.
Of course, this book mainly revolves around Evie and X's dance rehearsals with their teacher Fifi. She's always sassy and makes learning about dance a fun experience for the characters and the readers ahhhh might reread it soon
Im trying my best to review books and give y'all what its about...I hope this is ok and I did my best
I cant wait for this book to come out June 1,2021 so I can buy the physical copy and it can be on my tbr cart and read it 500 times
3.5 ⭐
Super cute and fast read. Loved the idea of this book but was definitely written for a YA.
A sweet, funny, romance for teens who have good reasons to think love is stupid.
I do think it was crappy for Evie's mom to make her keep the secret about the affair from her sister and I think she should not have done that!!
Evie's world of romance has suddenly taken a turn and she no longer believes in love. One day she cleans out her bookshelf and gets rid of every romance book she has. While at the Little Free Library, a strange woman appears and hands her a book in exchange for those she's dropping off. Instructions for Dancing. Evie doesn't think anything of it...
Later she sees a couple kissing and suddenly has a vision of their entire relationship and sees how it ends. This begins to happen more often and only when she sees a couple kiss. What is going on??!!
Eventually, through the book, she ends up at a dance studio, and things begin to get interesting as Evie meets Xavier. Everything she thought she gave up on comes knocking and brings life into focus. Can she believe in love once again?
I was definitely in the mood for this one. I started a few days ago and got distracted with ARCs and buddy reads, as a bookworm's life can do sometimes
