This release also includes The Jago & Litefoot Revival which I have reviewed separately, since it is also available on its own.
Jago & Litefoot ran for 13 4-part “seasons” (plus a few specials) before ending prematurely on a cliffhanger when one of the leads passed away. This final full-cast story wraps up the series with a celebration of its history. While that's the point of this release, it does also resolve the previous cliffhanger, albeit off-screen and without much in the way of detail. (It has, however, recently been announced that the planned 14th season has been re-written as a regular audiobook, to be released this summer for those who want the full tale).
Given that the purpose of this is basically nostalgia, the plot itself is quite good. It sees Jago alone, having to solve the mystery of Litefoot's apparent disappearance. His memory is also fading, providing a useful plot device as he has to fight it by recalling some of his experiences from past seasons - going all the way back to the first one. A considerable number of recurring guest stars from the series also make brief appearances, adding to the reminiscences.
The only flaw is the lack of banter between the leads, except in flashback scenes, but this is obviously unavoidable. In fact, once Litefoot does make an appearance, the editing of lines spoken in previous episodes into the posthumously recorded one is expertly done. Clearly, this is an episode aimed squarely at existing fans, but it provides a suitably stirring send-off for what's been one of the highlights of the Big Finish spin-off range.
