I can't really describe why I loved this book so much, but I could NOT PUT IT DOWN.
⚠️TRIGGER WARNING for those who have suffered from pregnancy loss. The author is very insensitive about it.
1.5 stars maybe 2 because I sort of didn't hate the ending
This book had boring characters and a boring storyline. I've loved Kubica's previous books but this one did not hold my interest. The two women in this story are high school teachers at the same school. They could've been interesting but alas they were not. It also felt like a lot of telling and not enough showing -which gets tedious to read.
I even figured out who the baddie was well before I was supposed to. I felt like I had seen a very similar storyline on The Closer years ago. Even the ending was missing some explanations- it kind of just jumped from that main important revelation to the resolution. Normally, I thoroughly enjoy Kubica's writing and especially her deep character building, but this one felt really slow. It was a miss for me.
Was exactly the type of popcorn thriller I've wanted lately. This sucked me in and all I could think about was reading this book. Some parts felt a little repetitive though, despite the short length of the book. One part of the ending I guessed early on, but the last little reveal I wasn't expecting, but also didn't like. it was pretty obvious Lily was cheating on Christian with Jake, but I half expected the baby to be his as well. I didn't expect Nina's mom to be the killer, kind of a strange twist tbh

This was.....just okay.
It was a quick, easy listen on audio, but had I been reading the physical book I may have DNFd as it was just a bit predictable and slow to get to any twists.
There were a ton of pointless details and repetition throughout, possibly just to fill out the pages, and Christian's chapters were bland and his inner thoughts made me cringe, but the final twists saved it slightly.
I'm not writing off this author, as the reviews nearly all say this is not her best book, so will try another from her and hope it's better!
Not bad, but expected more and thought the characters were messy and slightly stupid.
I love the book. I usually can guess how it will end. This one had me guessing until a certain part I picked up on a phrase and I was right. This drives my wife nuts lol. This is the first book from this author that I have read and I was not disappointed[b:Just the Nicest Couple 60666845 Just the Nicest Couple Mary Kubica https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1659111505l/60666845.SY75.jpg 95560159]. I wish we could have heard from Jack in the book also. But, this is a entertaining read for sure.
