Once again, the title and cover suggested this would be a ridiculous puff of chick lit but despite some standard contemporary romance tropes, this book twisted each ever so slightly. Normally, the heroine, upon being forced to start over, acquires a rangy cat or stray dog. Not this book... it's something entirely different. And the “she starts a bakery” trope is turned on its ear as well.

I needed some light escapism and this provided it without making me think I was watching a hallmark movie. Sure there was a happy ending but there was some genuine angst in getting there.
