This has been on my TBR list for years, but I had no idea what it was about or what to expect. It turns out this series is very different from what I thought it might be. It's utterly charming and enjoyable. What drew me in immediately was the colouring, which is really beautiful. Then I got to know the characters, who are entirely too cute. One of them is just a little chaos monster and I love them. Actually, so far, I pretty much love them all, which is rare for me—I'm usually irritated by everyone. Finally, the dialogue and interactions are just great: there were many little things which made me chuckle aloud, which—again—is rare for me.
I'm so happy I started this series. Really looking forward to the next volume.

... I think I've may misunderstood all the hype.
It is fine. Truly.
But, I sounded a lot like any other Girl Scout story even seen before.
All character's personalities were pretty predictable (based on their appearance and actions), and... I quite do not understand why all the fruit-loops around that comic.
I was looking for an easy read and this fit the bill. Lumberjanes, is more for a young audience. I cant say YA but maybe middle grade. I would allow my 12 yo daughter to read.
Lumberjanes Vol 1 was okay. I saw the following: ADHD; potential lesbian relationship; stereotypes (the African American camp counselor of the Janes. Seems like they were trying to emulate the medias stereotype of black women, loud and abrasive. It didnt quite offend me but I noticed.)The storyline was too basic. The imagery of the comic was okay. There wasnt any wow factor.
2.5 stars but will round up to 3. I will not continue with the series. I am unsure if I would recommend, depends on who is asking.

FRIENDSHIP TO THE MAX! PS - not a graphic, just awesome middle grade goodness.
