Tara is forced to move in with her cousins after her house burns down. She faces a difficult adjustment while her mother is away trying to earn money. Interwoven with this story is that of Tara's ancestors, who in 1859 were convinced by a mysterious stranger to put all their money into searching their property for gold.

The art isn't bad, and a story that has some promise but does little with it. I didn't really get this book. There are little plot points scattered throughout, but they have no resolution or follow-up, and then it ends.
Super cute! This was a quick, fun read. I liked the modern day component of the story more than the old timey part, even though I really like bonnets.
