I grew up in Little Egypt and remember relatives reading this book around the time of publication. I don't remember any press coverage, but I lived about an hour north. Of course I was a kid too.
So I have some vague recollections of the book, but not the events. I'm shocked by all that was allowed to go on. I'm dismayed at the amount of violence he committed and got away with. I'm thankful for those who worked so hard for justice. I'm glad I read this book. The story is tragic and unnerving, but remembering is the best way tokeep it from happening again.
