I made it about 200 pages before throwing in the towel. The book was interesting, the premise handled from a different angle but after 200 pages, I was uninterested in the characters and it made it hard to convince myself to slog through the remaining two-thirds of the book. I've been told that I gave up just about the point where the book was “starting to get good” but, for what is supposed to be a chick lit/clutch novel, 200 pages is quite an investment for very little pay-off.
I knew going into the book that the main character was to be torn between her husband in post-war Great Britain and her new love in the 18th century Scottish Highlands. But after 200 pages I was not convinced she had a reason to stay in the 18th century or an impetus to return to the 20th century. That said, maybe that was the point?
