This book came out when I was about DONE with reading paranormal and thirsty for more contemporary novels. However, I got to meet the author at an event this past weekend. She did a reading from the sequel Supernaturally, and I was intrigued. When she talked about what the book was about, I was even more intrigued. This wasn't your typical paranormal.
I figured if the book was at least as entertaining as Kiersten, then I'd enjoy it. I was right.
I LOVED it. Evie is a great character–kick butt and funny. And Lend. Oh Lend. I LOVE that it's a book set in a paranormal world with a girl who just wants to be normal. She gets excited over the funniest things. And it was a page-turner for sure.
So, not much of a book review per se, but I'm looking forward to picking up Supernaturally and giving it a go.
A cute fun read. If only the main character was not so obsessed with pink.
This was a fun, quick read. The narrator's voice was a little bit young and naive, which works to the story's advantage because Evie is young and sheltered. I found myself both annoyed and endeared to her simplistic version of the world. If I could give books a 1/2 star, this one would get 3.5 since this was an average book with some pretty fantastic moments sprinkled throughout.
This was really fun. Good story, good plot twists, plenty of room to build the story into more. And whoever was complaining about “teenagers using the word bleep” obviously didn't get very far, it's explained, actually her unorthodox isolated upbringing could also explain it. Makes perfect sense in context.
I will be looking for the next one!
well at least i don't put my expectation too high when i started read this book, so i don't feel so disappoint. not like when i started read becca fitzpatrick's hush hush series, i put my expectation too high, but when i reached half part of the book, it was all come crashing down...
I really enjoyed this book–enough that I moved the second in the series up on my two be read list and decided to read them back-to back. It was fun to read a paranormal YA book where the main character seemed so normal and down to earth, excited about little things like school and prom. :-)
