If you are going to Paris or if you've been to Paris or if you've ever wanted to go to Paris, you must read this book. It's a collection of very, very short clips from all the books you really must read someday about Paris including contemporary writings, Adam Gopnik's Paris to the Moon and Edmund White's Le Flaneur and Sarah Trumbull's Almost French, as well as older pieces, George Orwell's Down and Out in Paris and London and Jean Rhys' Quartet and Simone de Beauvoir's The Prime of Life. Each piece is just long enough for a quick read at the bus stop or while waiting for your hairdresser at the salon. And each little piece is full of love for Paris, which is really the only reason for reading this book at all.
