While I feel like I did myself a disservice by not reading the 1st of the series I was still able to enjoy this read. I didn't always understand why a certain character behaved the way she did but overall the story telling was good and it was able to hold my attention well. Sapphic books that aren't 99% romance is nice, I love a good thriller/mystery that just happens to be sapphic.
