Rather disappointing, given how much I enjoyed her other books. The pacing is all over the place and the plot comes across as wimpy.
Very exciting and great in the first half, but it got slower in the 2nd half. It talks of the horrible treatment of African slaves in both Jamaica and other countries. There was also some mention of ladies working in not so good places, but it is not mentioned too much. Overall, it was pretty good and a nice read.
bookclub4m Adventure fiction! And pirates! But before/after you read this you should read She Would Be King by Wayétu Moore because Minerva didn't get to tell this story and she was a badass who deserved it.
